Recommended Gear: Tent, Sleeping Bag, Air Mattress
What is your name?
Christa
What is your favorite camping or hiking equipment?
Must have a 4 season tent, regardless the season. Also, a lightweight, hyperinsulated sleeping bag, and air mattress. I always travel with my guitar or mandolin, so a good strong, but lightweight case is a great idea. And, pack wise. Have someone help you measure and fit your torso correctly.
I prefer an interior frame, with plenty of room for attachments. Immediately to mind are Cabella’s via on-line, a visit to MN, or catalog (and very probably in ND itself. . . most likely in Fargo). Other excellent resources are REI (also likely in Fargo), Campmor.com. Army/Navy surplus stores are frequently excellent options for camping gear.
What do you use it for?
Camping, climbing and bluegrass festivaling.
Why do you like it?
I want equipment that can meet the elements regardless the weather. I have climbed high mountains in the middle of summer, and had snow. I have slept in the desert in the winter and had to open every vent, and sleep on top of my bag, or just in a liner.
Is there a particular brand that you prefer? If yes, what is it and why?
I love REI because their equipment is top notch, and not extremely expensive. I also like Campmor.com because they have blow out prices on great, brand name equipment. . .MRS, Trek, Kelty, etc.
