Kelty Recliner Review: Lounging in Style
Lounging on your patio has never been better than with the Kelty Recliner lounge chair. Both the design and materials used in its construction help guarantee a relaxed and rejuvenating respite as you recline into the chair.
Size of the Recliner
The backrest of the recliner is easily adjustable to a range of positions, enabling you to choose an angle that best fits your personal “comfort taste”. It incorporates a secure locking mechanism assuring you that it will stay in place once adjusted to your desired stance. At a height of 45 inches, even a six-foot tall person can rest his or her head on the chair’s headrest. Further, the headrest is padded with a thick, soft cushion, thus preventing stress on your neck muscles as you lie back into the chair.
With a width of 21 inches, the lounge chair provides plenty of room even for broad-shouldered body builder types. Seat depth is likewise large, also measuring 21 inches, making the seat 21-inch square. Consisting of a single sling, the backrest and seat fabric extend further below to provide a resting surface for your legs.
The Frame
The frame of the Kelty Recliner Chair is constructed from heavy-duty and durable steel tubes with a diameter of approximately 0.9 inches. Along the length of the backrest portion of the frame is a series of U-shaped round metal bars that are interlinked with thick strands of fabric incorporated in the sling.
The stability of the feet of the chair is helped by the chair’s general design. Instead of having independently standing legs, the two front legs consist of a single metal tube bent at right angles at the bottom in two places to make a letter U. The same is true for the back legs. Further, the front and back legs are fastened with each other at their upper ends by clamps and hinges that allow them to fold.
The corners where the feet are bent are wrapped in a casing of hard plastic. These are installed to protect both the feet themselves and any wood floor surface the chair rests on. In addition, they also help keep the chair from slipping on floors of stone or ceramic tiles.
Armrests made of plastic are perched on the top end of the front and back legs. Hinges hidden below also allow them to pivot when folding. Extending from the front end of the armrests is the part of the frame that holds the fabric supporting your lower legs. This, like the backrest and seat, also has the U-shaped metal bars linked with the fabric through thick strands. Its bottom end is U-shaped as well, matching the chair’s feet. In addition, the whole length of the bottom of the U is sheathed in plastic so your bare feet need not rest on cold metal tubing.
The Sling
The sling consists of a single piece of 600D polyester mini-ripstop with polyethylene mesh. It extends from the top rail of the chair, flows smoothly down close to the bottom, and is securely fastened to the frame.
Providing a strong lumbar support, you can lounge with your e-book reader for hours without worrying about getting a backache. Nor do you have to worry about getting hot as the polyester mesh is breathable, allowing the flow of air on to your back, making it the perfect lounging chair for spring and summer. The length of the mesh is enclosed in a sturdy piping, both to protect it and to provide a strong base for the strands connecting it to the frame.
