Shopping Tips for Camping Tents
Your outdoor vacation can be easily ruined with the wrong choice of camping tent. It might seem like fun to try roughing it out in the woods, but come night time when you and the kids are tired, camping tents that are too cramped and uncomfortable could make you wish vacation would be over soon.
Basic Types of Camping Tents
The best way to shop for camping tents is to familiarize yourself with the various types available and weigh their pros and cons to determine the most suitable kind for you and your family.
A-Frame Tent
This is the most basic of all camping tents and most appropriate for couples or individual campers. It is quick and easy to construct as you only need to erect a pair of poles at each end to form an A-shaped frame or triangle and then plant one pole in the middle for additional foundation. And with that, you’ve got your warm and comfy shelter waiting to keep you safe and secure in your sleep.
Dome Tent
The nicest thing about the dome tent is the variety of sizes in which it’s available. Small-sized dome tents are perfect for couples wishing for a cozy and snug shelter in the woods. Larger ones, on the other hand, are perfect for friends or families, being able to accommodate five persons or more.
Dome tents, however, are not as easy to assemble as A-frame tents so be sure you practice beforehand if you don’t want your temporary home set up in a jiffy.
Cabin Tent
If you’re going camping as a large group then perhaps a cabin tent is more appropriate. These are made of heavy-duty fabrics and are big enough to provide cover even for your car. If not, it can serve as a place for the whole group to gather during meals or campfire or jamming sessions at night. They’re not that difficult to assemble, but what you need to watch out for is its price, which is in proportion to its size.
Geodesic Tent
You like the idea of having a dome tent, but you don’t think it will provide you sufficient protection against extreme weather. In that case, you might want to check out the geodesic tent. It can withstand heavy rain showers and strong winds because of the numerous poles it uses for its frame. Then again, because of its multi-frame support, it’s also one of the more difficult types of camping tents to assemble.
