Top Utensils or Equipment that Your Camp Kitchen Should Include
When choosing which utensils or equipment should make up your camp kitchen, you need to consider what kind of camping trip you’ll be taking, the number of days your trip will last as well as how many people you’ll be cooking for, your menu, weather conditions, and availability of resources and supplies, among other things.
Boiling Water System
A basic camp kitchen relies on the “boiling water system”. This means that everything you eat may be prepared just by using boiling water. For this type of cooking, all you’ll need is an insulated mug – to serve your food fresh and hot – and an aluminum pot (to withstand heat while your food or stew is being cooked).
If you’re camping alone, a spoon or fork is all you’ll need since you can eat directly from the pot. But if there’s more than one person then just bring the appropriate number of eating utensils and you’ll be all set.
Camp Stove System
Anything that can’t be boiled will have to be cooked over a camp stove. Thus, your camp kitchen might be made up of a stove, eating utensils, and a frying pan and/or pot. If you’re resourceful, you’ll be able to plan and prepare a wide range of meals with these “tools”.
Full-Out System
Believe it or not, you can go all-out and enjoy a full-course meal even when you’re camping! With a reflector oven, you’ll be able to bake simple to advanced pastries and desserts. With a coffee filter or coffee press, you’ll be able to enjoy your own latte or cappuccino.
Other Basic Supplies and Tools
Whichever kind of kitchen you’d like to have at camp, remember to bring the following:
Cooler
You’ll need it not just to keep all your beverages cool but also for storing any fresh or frozen meat.
Cutting or Chopping Board
Whether it’s meat, vegetables, or fish, if you need to slice or dice, a chopping board will give you a clean and even surface to do your work.
Alternative Sources of Heat or Fire
When everything else in your camp kitchen fails, you can always rely on a good, old roaring campfire to cook your food.
Condiments, Herbs, and Spices
Even if you’re not the greatest cook in the world, a little dash of this and that could still make your dish edible.
