With ten of North Dakota’s seventeen state parks offering a variety of cabin choices, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy a camping trip any time of the year.

As cabins are available at a limited number, state parks are open to accepting reservations made a year in advance. Reservations may be made by phone or online.

Basic Camping Cabins

These are also referred to as sleeping cabins. They provide basic amenities such as lights and four to five bunk beds per cabin. These cabins are also equipped with both electric fans and heating systems. They are usually open to use from mid-May to autumn although it could vary from one park to another. Such cabins are the most affordable to rent but be aware that they are not equipped with interior cooking facilities and bathrooms.

Icelandic, Beaver Lake, and Grahams Island are just some of the state parks that offer this type of accommodation to its guests.

Woodland Cabins

At the Turtle River State Parks, slightly modified sleeping cabins are offered to its guests. These features all the aforementioned facilities plus interior bathrooms. This is an ideal arrangement if you do not wish to share bathroom facilities but are in no need of additional modern comforts since you’ll be spending majority of your time outdoors.

Primitive Log Cabins

These are only available at the Cross Ranch State Park. They are equipped with lighting and electricity as well as wood-burning stoves. There is no available running water or interior bathroom facilities but guests may make use of the shower stalls at the Visitor Center.

Dorms and Family Cabins

Large groups may rent out dorms at the Lake Metigoshe State Park. For such groups, use of the kitchen and dining hall as well as other large functions rooms are also available for rent. The park also has 3 spacious cabins available for family use. These come equipped with gas fireplace and heating as well as having its own bathrooms and kitchens.

Seasonal Cabins

If you are planning frequent visits to North Dakota campgrounds, consider renting out cabins for seasonal use. Such accommodations are offered at a limited basis from Fort Stevenson and Cross Ranch state parks.
