Lewis & Clark State Park
Take H1804 and head SE towards Willston. After about nineteen miles, you’ll reach Lewis & Clark State Park, one of the many attractions in the country that pays tribute to the 19th century historic expedition of explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.
What to Do in Lewis & Clark State Park
Badlands, which are areas of land that have been shaped into uniquely rugged forms by the forces of sand, water, and earth, are one of the most distinctive features of North Dakota’s landscape. If you visit Lewis & Clark State Park, you’ll have the chance to witness North Dakota’s one-of-a-kind terrain up close – it’s famous badlands.
Besides scenic natural areas, the park also offers a little bit of history with its marked trails that commemorate the path that the explorers, Lewis and Clark, had taken when they passed through North Dakota. In fact, the trail also marks the site on which the two, together with the Corps of Discovery, had made camp.
Entrance fees remain the same for Lewis & Clark State Park at $5 per vehicle or $25 for those who wish to acquire an year-long permit to park premises. For use of the park’s campground area, visitors only have to pay $12 for primitive camping or $20 for campsite with hookup to electricity.
