Devils Lake State Park

Devils Lake State Park is one of the more uniquely beautiful state parks of North Dakota and also boasts of having the largest natural lake in the state. The state park possesses over 1,000 acres of natural environment, and this includes the equally lovely Grahams Island State Park.

What to Do in Devils Lake State Park

Devils Lake is quite a sight to behold, filling a closed-drainage basin which possesses varying water levels. In the past ten years, the lake had increased its depth by more than 25 feet.

Visit the Black Tiger Bay State Recreation Area, located at the eastern side of the lake, to access the park’s boating area.

When you reach the lake area, Grahams Island State Park will just be a short distance away. The road connecting the state park to Grahams Island passes over an embankment in an elevated area. If you are going to travel on foot, be careful about high and strong winds.

At Grahams Island State Park, you’ll also find a bait shop to supply you with basic fishing needs. North Dakota is one of the most popular states for fishing pursuits and Devils Lake State Park is proof of this. Whether you prefer to fish in the heat of summer or in the cool months of winter, you’re sure to find the lake rich in much-prized catch.

Entrance fees to the park are affordable at $4 per vehicle per day. But if you want to enjoy greater savings, you need only to pay $25 for an annual permit to the park.

Camping facilities are located at Graham Island State Park. For primitive camping, you only have to pay $12 per night. But if you wish to enjoy access to the campsite’s electrical system, you only have to pay $20 per night. For a more luxurious stay at Devils Lake State Park, consider renting any of its cabins, which are priced at $40 per night.
