What to Do in Devils Lake North Dakota

Devils Lake North Dakota may hold the record for being the largest water body in the state but that doesn’t mean you’ll only get to enjoy water activities in the area. There are plenty to do on land as well…certainly more than enough that a single day may be insufficient to enjoy everything the place has to offer.

Ruger Park

For total family entertainment in just one place, Ruger Park will no doubt suit your needs. Its sports complex includes a skate rink, 2 outdoor basketball courts, sand volley courts, and 4 softball fields as well as playground equipment for kids. It has a heated main pool as well as an intermediate pool and water slide for the kids.

The pools are surrounded by picnic tables as well as 2 outdoor shelters. There are also enclosed shower and bathroom facilities available. An exciting itinerary of activities is always planned for each day, with allotted time for activities such as aerobic swimming, family swimming, and the likes.

Once you’ve got your fill of outdoor sports, you can relax and enjoy solitude along its walking path or take photos of its flower beds and wildlife habitat.

Roosevelt Park

Although the park doesn’t have a swimming pool, it does operate a miniature golf course as well as 3 horseshoe courts. Other sports facilities include the Bill Jerome indoor sports arena, a lighted baseball field, sand volleyball courts, playground equipment, and 5 softball diamonds. There are indoor and outdoor shelters available for those intent on simply relaxing. There are also picnic tables and grills for those who wish to enjoy meals outdoors.

Odd Fellows Park

This charming park offers visitors a closer look at surrounding wildlife. There is also a vast open area available for any recreational use required by your group. And during the months of winter, the park has a sledding hill for a bit of snowy entertainment.

Lakewood Park

Lakewood Park offers basic sports facilities with a playground and ball field. There are also picnic tables and grills available for those enjoying a day tour of the area as well as a boat ramp and docking area. But one unique feature it has to offer is its biking trail, which leads all the way to the city of Devils Lake.

Grahams Island State Park

Naturally, a visit to Devils Lake North Dakota won’t be complete without touring the Grahams Island State Park. The lake offers excellent fishing opportunities and relaxing boat rides. Head east of the lake and you’ll also reach the Black Tiger Bay State Recreation Area. It’s fitting to end your tour of Devils Lake at Grahams Island as it also offers camping accommodations.
