There is a special kind of resplendent beauty surrounding Mother Nature when she is blanketed in cold, white, glittering snow.
But to fully enjoy the outdoors during the winter season, you have to dress appropriately. Here is what you need to know:
Winter Clothes
Dress for winter hiking in layers. This will allow you to peel off one layer at a time in case you get all hot and sweaty.
- First Layer: Choose lightweight, thermal underwear and glove liners like capilene that prevent moisture from building up on your skin.
- Second Layer: Insulating material like microfleece should be used to keep you warm.
- Third Layer: For very obvious reasons, your outermost clothes should be made of windproof and waterproof material. Avoid cotton at all costs. Cotton is not waterproof. On the contrary, it will absorb all the water it can get from the environment. Do not use any cotton for any of your winter hiking clothes.
Winter Shoes
