How to Plan for Caravan Campings
Caravan campings are a great, safe, and easy way to enjoy your vacation. Even better, the fun starts not when you reach your destination but during the journey itself. To ensure a pleasant trip in your trusted caravan, perform a maintenance and performance check on your vehicle and be aware of any state rules and regulations that you are subject to on your way to your destination.
Get your car or trailer serviced.
Have a professional mechanic assess the condition and performance of your vehicle. Will it be safe to use for long-distance travel?
Prepare for vehicle-related emergencies.
Start with having a spare tire ready as well as all other tools and equipment necessary for on-the-road DIY repair. If possible, join clubs that offer recovery schemes when your vehicle breaks down and you require towing or on-the-site repair.
Take care in your choice of storage for extra fuel.
At the very least, keep your extra fuel far away from any flammable material and any device or appliance that emits heat or draws power from fuel.
Check expiration date of your fire extinguisher.
Even though some extinguishers don’t come with expiration dates, experts suggest that you have your extinguisher replaced every six years. As extinguishers used by individuals and families are often in powder form, they must be regularly shaken up – doing so in a weekly basis would do – in order to prevent it from solidifying. It is, however, also prudent to have fire blankets in your caravan in cases of failure of discharge.
Bring prescription for your medication.
If you are under medication, make sure that you have your prescription with you. There may be times that your caravan would be subject to inspection and your medication may be confiscated if you cannot prove that your possession and use of them is valid.
Plan your route in advance.
With caravan campings, the shortest or most traffic-free route isn’t always best. You should also prioritize routes that offer scenic views on your way to your destination. If necessary, leave early to avoid traffic and take advantage of the more picturesque routes at the same time. Then again, you should also have back-up plans ready in the event that you find yourself in an unexpected gridlock. Lastly, don’t forget to have all essential road maps with you at all times!
With caravan campings, you’re in the driver seat and therefore also completely in charge of the outcome of your trip. But with the aforementioned tips, your camping trip is sure to be an outstanding success!
