What Kind of Camping Trip Is Best for You?
If it’s your first time to go on a camping trip, be aware that outdoor camping doesn’t always and only involve pitching a tent and building a campfire. There may be other activities involved that could be more difficult and challenging but are just as fun as well.
Cabin Camping
This type of camping trip offers even more comfort and ease than recreational vehicle camping. With cabin camping, you’d be able to experience all the great things that outdoor living can offer but come night time, you can retreat to the comfort of modern conveniences as offered by your cabin.
Cabins may come with basic furnishing or as luxuriously appointed as hotel rooms. In most cases, however, you will have to bring your own supplies, cook your own food, and clean your own cabin.
Workamping
If you want to enjoy a camping trip without spending too much then a workamping trip is just the vacation for you. With workamping, you’ll be able to enjoy free use of campsites and perhaps even free or discounted use of facilities and even additional wages in exchange of hours of labor.
Workamping sites have varying needs for labor and are ideal for teenagers and younger kids who’d like to gain their first experience in work, meet new people, and earn some money as well.
Snowshoe Camping
Believe it or not, but it’s truly possible to plan a camping trip even in the cold months of winter. Take snowshoe camping for instance.
With snowshoe camping, you need to be familiar at least with the basics of snowshoeing and winter camping. Campsites are often located in mountainous areas. Tents and equipment must all be weatherproof and able to withstand rain, snow, and hail.
This type of camping trip is best for intermediate and advanced campers as the likelihood of getting injured is higher than usual.
Mountain Biking Camping
While not as dangerous as snowshoe camping, mountain biking camping is nonetheless just as arduous as you would have to navigate uneven and inclined terrain using your mountain bike. You will also have to carry your own stuff while traveling, and if you’re carrying too much, this could affect your balance and speed.
More Tips for Safe and Fun Camping
Whichever type of camping trip you’d like to experience, remember to prepare yourself physically beforehand. Exercise regularly and practice skills you expect to use during the trip such as swimming, rowing, hiking, and climbing.
