Tips for Setting up Camp in a Beach Campground
The formula for the perfect beach camping vacation is simple: great weather, great company, and the tips below.
Learn how to cook outdoors before leaving.
If you’re going to bring a grill with you then make sure you become well-versed at operating it. If you intend to cook in the “old-fashioned” way, then make sure you know how to build a fire and keep it going until your stew, meat, or vegetables have been cooked properly.
Pack wisely!
Consider where you’re going and pack accordingly. That means having the most comfortable – but also practical – arrangements for sleeping. If you’re used to camping then a sleeping bag will do, especially since lying on the sand is much more comfortable than the rough and uneven ground commonly found in woods or forests. But if not, consider bringing a camping cot with a built-in mattress with you.
If you’re not going to bring a tent then make sure you at least have a mosquito net with you. It will help you enjoy an “itch-free” sleep during your stay. And don’t forget bed covers, pillows, and blankets.
Consider purchasing or packing your own first aid and survival kit. It should include typical medications and supplies for common outdoor illnesses and injuries. Outdoor tools and equipment should also be packed. These include knives, scissors, and cooking ware. Last but not least, don’t forget to pack extra sets of clothes, food and water supplies, and essential personal care products such as sun block and mosquito protection lotions.
Find a safe place to set up your camp.
Places near dunes may seem romantic and intimate, but they’re not that viable as a campsite. Avoid heavily vegetated areas as well as you don’t want to risk damaging them – and end up getting fined for it. Such areas are also prone to nocturnal visits of wild animals, and that’s another thing you should avoid.
The best areas to set up camp are those that are located on elevated grounds and past high tide levels. If possible, look for places that enjoy shade and protection from powerful winds. Shade from the sun won’t just protect your skin from overexposure to UV rays but it will also keep your body temperature sufficiently low to help prevent heat stroke.
Don’t litter
r.
Consider it your responsibility not just as a paying customer of a beach campground but also as a human being to remove all trash when you leave your camp.
