Beaver Lake State Park

Activities

Amphitheater Programs

Amphitheater programs are held each Friday and Saturday night throughout the summer, starting at 9:30 pm. Information is posted on the campground bulletin boards.

2008 Special Events

May 26 (Memorial Day)— Military Appreciation Day. Free admission to any state park on Memorial Day, in honor of past and present servicemen and women.

June 7 (10 a.m.)—National Trails Day.  Join a Ranger for an introduction to Beaver Lake State Park’s new trail system and a guided hike along segments of the new trail.  Meet at the park amphitheater at 10 a.m.

July 20 (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)—7th Annual Bullhead Fishing Tournament.  Fishing starts at 9 a.m. with weigh-in at 2 p.m.  Contact Beaver Lake State Park Staff at: 701-452-2752 for further details.

September 27 (10 a.m.)—National Public Lands Day. Volunteer to help make a difference on our public lands through various projects in Beaver Lake State Park.

Interpretive Activities

Weekend interpretive activities, including hikes, campfire programs and Dakota Explorers, are held every weekend during the summer. Information is posted on the campground bulletin boards.

June 13-15 – GO GREEN!

Saturday, June 14

  • 3 PM - Green Games Day.  Join us at the North Shelter by the campground to learn fun and interesting facts about North Dakota.  There will be prizes!

June 20-22 – CAMPFIRE COOKOUT!

Saturday, June 21

  • 3 PM - S’mores and Storytelling.  Meet at the amphitheater to munch on one of camping’s delicious desserts and stay for some fun stories.

July 4-6 – FOURTH OF JULY FUN!

Friday, July 4

  • 3 PM - Fourth of July Spirit.  Stops will be made at each site to deliver some Fourth of July fun! At 4 PM, stop at the North Shelter to have your face painted.

Saturday, July 5

  • 7 PM – Fun Facts for the Fourth of July.  Learn some fun facts about animals. Join us at the amphitheater.

July 11-13 – FEATHERY FLYERS

Saturday, July 12

  • 3 PM – Feathered Friends.  Meet at the amphitheater to learn more about birds from North Dakota.  There will be a nature walk to use your birding skills after the program.

July 18-20 – SOMETHING FISHY IS GOING ON HERE

Saturday, July 19

  • 3 PM – Gone Fishin’.  Make a fishing pole and catch some colorful construction paper fish.  Meet us at the North Shelter by the campground to make fish and learn about what types of fish there are in Beaver Lake.

July 25-27 – STATE PARK SCAVENGERS

Saturday, July 26

  • 3 PM – State Park Scavenger Hunt and Charades.  Join us at the amphitheater to play some cool nature games in our very own Beaver Lake State Park.

August 1-3 – CREEPY CRAWLERS

Saturday, August 2

  • 3 PM – The Great Bug Hunt.  Meet at the amphitheater to learn about some awesome creepy crawlers and play some buggy games.

August 8-10 – WHAT… SOME MORE S’MORES!

Saturday, August 9

  • 7 PM – Some More Stories and S’mores.  Listen to some stories while snacking on some delicious S’mores.  Join us at the amphitheater.
