August

August 2-9—CANDISC BICYCLE TOUR, Fort Stevenson State Park. “Bike the Badlands of Teddy Roosevelt” is a 420-mile loop tour that will encompass the ruggedly picturesque North Dakota Badlands, truly scenic Teddy Roosevelt National Park, pristine Lake Sakakawea and the historic wild west town of Medora, featuring the renowned Medora Musical (1-800-799-4242).

August 8-10—KIDS’ WEEKEND, Icelandic State Park. An entire weekend totally devoted to kids with games, entertainment, contests, and lots of excitement.

August 9—TROLLEY ROBBERY, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. Board the 5 p.m. trolley from the 3rd Street Station in Mandan ($5/person, under 5 free), or watch the action at the Trolley Stop in the park.

August 9—CABELA’S WALLEYE TOURNAMENT, Grahams Island State Park.

August 10—VISITOR APPRECIATION DAY, Fort Ransom State Park. Free park entrance

August 15-17—LEWIS & CLARK WEEKEND, Cross Ranch State Park. Join us here at Cross Ranch State Park as we continue to celebrate and acknowledge the significance of those two famous explorers Lewis & Clark.  Events and times to be announced at a later time.

August 16—GREAT PLANERS SALMON DERBY, Lake Sakakawea State Park. Join the Great Planers for their premiere salmon derby. Weigh-in schedules will be posted in the park and derby headquarters will be located at the park's special events shelter near the marina.

August 16—CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST. Grahams Island State Park. Come decorate your campsite and win prizes.

August 23—BEACH PARTY, Fort Stevenson State Park. Garrison Chamber of Commerce Beach Party, live bands and entertainment, fun and food for all ages, 50s, 60s & 70s music. Early ticket sales available (1-800-799-4242).

August 23—CORN FEED, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.
