Salary Range: $7.25 to $8.50 per hour
Closing Date: April 1, 2008 or Until Filled (Seasonal housing may be available in some parks)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to clearly communicate instructions, directions, and information to staff and general public.
  • Able to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions/temperatures for extended periods.
  • Able to operate audiovisual equipment.
  • Able to conduct nature programs/activities in a variety of terrain settings.
  • Requires valid driver’s license with ability to operate motor vehicles to include automobile.

Summary of Work

Responsible to the park manager or the classified park ranger for performing park administration, maintenance, enforcement, interpretation, safety and visitor services programs in a state park.  Requires ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to meet, communicate and inform park visitors, with special emphasis on children.  Ability to research, prepare and present information on the natural sciences, history or environment.  Entertainment skills and abilities.
  •  Requires the knowledge and skills equivalent to the completion of high school with demonstrated research, presentation, or entertainment experience.  Additional training or experience in a communication and/or interpretive field is desirable.
